Detailed description of project:
The Programme of ASEAN Regional Integration Support from the EU (ARISE) is expected to support the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to further the ASEAN economic integration process by contributing to the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint for the realisation of the AEC.
More specifically, the Programme is expected to enhance the capacities of the AMS in harmonising and implementing policies and regulations in the economic and trade sectors drawing on EU experience(Component I – Strengthening the ASEAN Economic Integration Process), so as to contribute to the realisation of the AEC (Component II – Achieving progress in securing the free flow of goods), whilst enhancing the capacity of the ASEAN Secretariat to support ASEAN Member States in thisendeavour (Component III).

The Government of Indonesia plans to conduct fortifying rice for the Poor under the national subsidized rice program for the poor, called RASKIN. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved the Project on 20 March 2009 for $2,000,000 financed through the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction (JFPR). The goal of the Project is prevention and reduction of iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) among the poor in Indonesia. About 5,000 metric tons of fortified RASKIN will be distributed for consecutively 8 months to targeted beneficiaries. The Project will cover about 60,000 identified poor households (about 270,000 population) that reside at selected 50 villages in the district of Karawang. The distribution of the fortified RASKIN will be carried out under the existing RASKIN program. BULOG is appointed as the sole agency to purchase and distribute RASKIN.
