Two Years Compact Celebration

The United States of America acting through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia have entered into a US$600,000,000 Compact for Millennium Challenge Account assistance to help facilitate poverty reduction through economic growth in Indonesia. The Indonesian trustee institution responsible to implement the Compact Grant is Millennium Challenge Account-Indonesia (MCA-Indonesia). The Compact consists of three main projects: the Green Prosperity Project; the Community-Based Nutrition to Reduce Stunting Project; and the Procurement Modernization Project. MCA-Indonesia will implement these projects in 5 years period starting 2 April 2013-1 April 2018.

The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical support for the organization and management of various types of event for MCA-Indonesia at different locations to support Compact implementation.

AETS IP has conducted two BTSF workshops in Indonesia. The second workshop was titled Workshop on on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) and was aimed to enhance participants understanding of EU legislations on surveillance and control of Avian Influenza, and how to implement equivalent standards within the ASEAN region. The workshop was attended by 75 participants from Southeast Asian and Pacific countries and was carried out with assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture.

This Service Order (SO No. 6000000030) was implemented under Framework Contract No. PC-A-040 under Community Based Health Nutrition Project to reduce the number of stunded children in Indonesia. In this project, AETS was entrusted to provide communication support (event documentation, event materials and publication through radio talk shows) to further advocate stunting in Indonesia through Global Nutrition Report Launch conducted by The National Development Planning Board Ministry (Bappenas), as part of the advocacy effort in gaining wider awareness of stunting prevalence in Indonesia and cross sectors actions to support stunting preventions actions.

The purpose of this support for Global Nutrition Reprot are:

  • To further disseminate the messages relevant to stunting prevalence, cross cutting actions to prevent stunting in Indonesia and Stunting (CHNP) as government initiative supported by MCA-Indonesia and MCC
  • To support Bappenas in the event implementation and the national effort to reduce stunting
  • To create further presence of Compact Program strategic support on stunting prevention in Indonesia for targeted Ministers (MOH, Bappenas, and Coordinating Minister of Human Development and Culture) and other GOI relevant officials also stakeholder

The launch were formally opened y Coordinating Minister of Human Development and Culture, followed by presentation of Global Nutrition Report and two panel discussions to coment on the report, with 300 participants, including journalist, attending the event.

AETS IP has conducted two BTSF workshops in Indonesia. The first workshop was titled “Workshop on Food Safety of Fishery Products” and was aimed to train professionals with government backgrounds in the relevant areas to design and implement a system of efficient official controls. This is essential to verify government officials compliance with general and specific hygiene and food safety requirements in handling maritime produce. The workshop was attended by 80 participants from South East Asia and Europe. Indonesia Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister, Susi Pudjiastuti, was also in attendance to deliver a welcome speech at the workshop.
