The project objective of this sub-project is to give support to the Indonesian Programme Director and project stakeholders in the achievement of the Trade Support Programme results through:

  • Upgraded export quality control and testing institutions, collaborating with international counterparts
  • Better understanding and knowledge about international standards, regulations and quality requirements by Indonesian companies including SMEs
  • Improved export capabilities of SMEs, leading to increased exports in selected sectors
  • Improvement of the capability of the MOI Centre for Chemicals and Packaging (BBKK) to provide technical assistance to exporters regarding the REACH Regulation

ARISE Assists Myanmar on Safety Regulations for Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Yangon-Myanmar, 10-11 March 2015)

ARISE has been providing assistance to Myanmar in the development of regulations for electrical equipment safety with the twin objectives of improving safety and enabling Myanmar to remove trade barriers when trading in electrical products with other ASEAN Member States.

The assistance is directed at enabling Myanmar to participate in the ASEAN mutual recognition arrangement and in the ASEAN Electrical and Electronic Equipment Harmonised Regulatory Regime. This assistance from ARISE complements the efforts being made by the government authorities in Union of Myanmar. The Government enacted the Electricity Law in 2014 to replace the outdated 1984 Electricity Law to facilitate the development of a much needed modern power infrastructure in Myanmar. The Law additionally provides for the regulation safety of electrical equipment which has not been adequately regulated.
